In the 94th minute, unbridled joy broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a last-gasp equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and gifted the temporary Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch in class, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old in his dotage.

A Stark Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench was the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with an unparalleled CV for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, stood a one-time trainer at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being seconded from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
