The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
